Coding == Joy!
Agape Werks, Inc | LevelUP Makerspace
Join other teens online and learn how to create code that can come to life outside your computer! No experience necessary, but if you have some, come and enhance what you already know. You can join from any device that supports a modern browser, but a computer or Chromebook will work best.
Coding is so much more than websites (although its pretty cool for that). Learn how to develop embedded programs that can bring you joy (or functionality) even when you are away from your computing device. During the session, teens will learn to develop programs for the micro:bit microcontroller (a computer smaller than a credit card). Start with blocks-based coding and create as many projects as you can in the 60 minute session. Afterward, you can continue learning on your own to complete more online projects or recreate them using text-based Python. This highly customizable session is suitable for beginners and intermediates (you move at your own pace). You will need to access the internet from a computer, phone, or tablet. The computer will need a Chrome or Edge browser. If using a phone or tablet, make sure you have access rights and space to download free micro:bit app.
Want to create a project IRL (in real life)? Sign up for the two-hour follow-up session on May 15th: Coding == Joy IRL! . At that in-person you will use the skills you learn here to make and take home a physical embedded programming project YOU develop. #RLDCHI
