Teen Public Relations Workshop
John G. Shedd Aquarium
At Shedd Aquarium, our mission is to connect people to the living world and inspire them to make a difference, and our public relations team is dedicated to supporting this mission. During a special workshop in the Teen Learning Lab, Shedd’s public relations team will share insight on what it’s like to be a part of their fast paced, media-loving environment. Their team will share some public relations campaigns and projects that have happened at Shedd, such as the “See Red” campaign that teamed up with the Chicago Bulls, and the “Waddle it Be” campaign that announced the name and gender of Shedd’s newest baby rockhopper penguin, and allow teens to come up with their own creative campaign. The workshop will help aspiring communicators tap into the public relations industry and get hands-on experience with the help of PR professionals
This two-hour public relations workshop is free and open to any high school teen. Teens will gain hands-on experience creating a campaign, interviewing, writing press releases and key messages, social media posts and more! This workshop will help teens get a better understanding of working with media and practice important skills they can then use to promote their own stewardship or conservation projects.
