Discover Computing with DPI Fall and Winter

Discovery Partners Institute

Discover Computing is a two-part program series designed to build a deeper and more diverse pool of students pursuing computer science and tech-related fields of study in Illinois. Students will work with DPI staff, Google mentors, and Wright College near peer mentors.

In the first installment, participating 9th and 10th graders engage in hands-on sessions to explore computing concepts and tools, including web development using HTML/CSS, machine learning using Python, and data analysis, as well as develop skills in problem-solving and team-building through design thinking activities.

In the second installment of this two-part series, Discover Computing 2, participating 9th and 10th graders engage in hands-on sessions to explore creative computing concepts and tools, including using code to create interactive murals, make logos, and more, as well as develop skills in problem-solving and team-building through design thinking activities.
