NVAM Education is dedicated to creating meaningful and transformative learning experiences for youth, educators and museum patrons. We promote connected learning through fine arts, civics, and youth facing interactive programming rooted in the exploration of personal narratives and global citizenship. The Hands on History badge allows teens interested in art, storytelling and digital media the opportunity to work in a museum environment and create multi media visual art projects in relationship to history. Participants publish their research and finished artwork on the NVAM Education website. Working one-on-one with veteran artists and museum professionals, youth learn how to express themselves creatively and how to connect their own life stories to the artwork in our permanent collection while building dialogue with other artists and peers.

Criteria

  1. Learners and mentors critique artwork in relationship to art in the museum’s collection. Learners are required to publish artwork and artist statement on the NVAM Education website, nvamoutloud.org.
