5698 learners earned this badge
Youth who earn this badge are participants in LearnStorm Chicago 2016 powered by Khan Academy. Running from January 29 - April 1, 2016, LearnStorm is a free online math challenge designed to celebrate student progress and encourage a growth mindset. This badge is for students in grades 3-12 who practice math skills on khanacademy.org and earn real-life rewards and recognition for themselves and their school. Along with Chicago, youth from Idaho, San Francisco, and Ireland are also able to participate in LearnStorm. LearnStorm is for all learners and gives every student a chance to succeed, no matter their level. Students earn two different types of points by practicing qualifying math missions on Khan Academy’s website: mastery and hustle points. Mastery points are earned for each skill practiced and every level of mastery earned. Hustle points are given out for practicing and sticking with skills that challenge you. Students are also encouraged to complete fun weekly activities designed to help them learn how to learn and develop a strong growth mindset.
