Chicago Lights Tutoring is a one-to-one tutoring and mentoring program for students in grades 1-12. Serving 400 students each year, the program encourages students to stay in school, graduate from high school, and pursue higher education and meaningful careers. Tutoring runs Monday-Thursday from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm from October – May. Applications are accepted year round. Students may begin at anytime during the school year. Students select one night a week to attend. In addition to tutoring and mentoring, students also have access to healthy meals, arts and enrichment programming, a library, writers circle, literacy activities, a computer lab and more. High school students may participate in the program’s Career Development classes and internships. Students interested in attending private high schools may also apply for a Chicago Lights scholarship.
