South Side STEM Camp

UChicago STEM EducationÕs South Side STEM Summer Camp serves as a three-week virtual platform for approximately 30 Chicago Public Schools students entering grades 5 and 6 to build passion and confidence for STEM through a deep dive into engaging content and through activities that are explicitly designed to foster studentsÕ growth mindsets as STEM learners. Throughout the camp, students engage in mathematics, engineering, and cryptography curriculum with University educators. As a result of their participation, students will develop their knowledge, skills, and confidence in these disciplines. UChicago STEM Education is a center devoted to research and development that resides within the Physical Sciences Division (PSD) of the University of Chicago. In addition to offering the South Side STEM Camps, UChicago STEM Education provides a number of key supports in STEM disciplines including instructional coaching, professional development workshops, leadership support, early childhood professional learning, curriculum-specific implementation support, professional learning labs for teachers, and customized supports for schools and districts.
