Bike Repair and Safety

After School Matters

Develop hands-on mechanic skills by building bicycles, organizing community events, and enjoying weekly field trips exploring Chicago by bike! Teens that successfully complete the program are qualified for summer employment with the Chicago Park District or as mechanics at bike shops. Apprentices with advanced skills or prior experience are given additional opportunities to develop skills in program operations and instruction, material reuse and recycling, repairing cargo bikes and trailers, and welding and fabrication.
