The King Conservation Science Scholars Program is the Chicago Zoological Society Brookfield Zoo’s innovative approach to leadership development, conservation, and cultural representation and inclusion. With a focus on developing the next generation of conservation-minded, community-driven leaders, the program uses environmental literacy to boast a high school learning community like no other. However, the heart of a King Scholar's experience lives within its design.
Under a reimagined approach to career prep and college readiness, King Scholars have the unique opportunity to build an experience directly related to their individual passions. Through interactive workshops and activities that take place both within the Brookfield Zoo and beyond, the King Scholars gain invaluable knowledge and training in leadership development, conservation science, community advocacy as well as a variety of other opportunities.
These opportunities include, yet are not limited to:
