Teenagers Exploring & Explaining Nature & Science (TEENS) Fall Program
Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum
The Nature Museum’s “Teenagers Exploring & Explaining Nature & Science” (TEENS) program is a free program for Chicago high school students that meets on Saturdays. Participants engage in museum- and field-based activities focused on urban ecosystems and their interconnectivity along flyways of migratory species. Topics will include conservation of monarch butterflies, climate change, and ecological restoration. Participants learn to use mobile devices to collect data in the field and geographic information systems (GIS) software to create and share maps of project data.

-Explore nature in the city and participate in real-world scientific investigations
-Learn about college & career paths in the natural sciences, conservation, and education
-Investigate Chicago’s connections with global conservation issues and how you can participate
-Develop lasting friendships and network with other teenagers from across the city
*Sample activities:
-Ecological restoration
-Environmental monitoring
-Citizen science projects
-Mobile data collection & digital mapping
-Represent the Nature Museum at city-wide events

Eligibility requirements:
-Age 14-18
-Chicago high school student
-Able to attend all program dates
