DYN Digital Divas Summer Intensive

Digital Divas is hosting a week long intensive camp at DePaul University Monday August 4, 2014 - Friday August 8, 2014. Digital Divas is an ongoing initiative of DePaul University’s Digital Youth Network, which encourages middle school girls to explore learning opportunities throughout STEM subject matter as an introduction to career possibilities not normally pursued by females (i.e., science, programming, engineering). Last summer, girls explored multiple learning opportunities including e-Fashion or electronic fashion (specifically circuitry, design, fashion) by engaging within a supportive community where learning was reinforced in designing and making multiple wearable e-textile projects, like wearable e-cuffs, t-shirts with LEDs shown in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCX3ReOekJ4. This summer we are building upon the Digital Diva tradition, by offering a weeklong e-Fashion camp at the DePaul University Drop In Center on Monday August 4, 2014 - Friday August 8, 2014. Girls will gather each day from 9am till 4pm, engaging in a hybrid learning environment of blending face-to-face (mentor and youths) and online learning opportunities scheduled between 10am-3pm focusing on design, fashion, circuitry and preprogramming through creating multiple wearable e-fashion projects (for example see below: wearable LED accessory, e-cuff and parallel circuit t-shirt). All girls will be asked to share her favorite creations at the Chicago City of Learning Summer Showcase on Thursday August 14, 2014, a daylong celebration of learning from 11am-4pm.
