UMedics Youth Fellowship
Ujimaa Medics
The UMedics Youth Fellowship is a youth-centered leadership and community care fellowship rooted in mutual aid, healing justice, emergency preparedness, political education, creativity, and collective care 🌱
UMedics is a grassroots collective working toward safer, healthier, and more connected communities. We believe our people already hold wisdom, leadership, creativity, and solutions worth investing in. A lot of our work is about making sure folks are equipped to care for each other instead of waiting to be saved. Whether that looks like mutual aid, emergency response, youth leadership, education, wellness, or simply showing up for people consistently, we believe community care should be real, accessible, and rooted in love 💛
This fellowship exists because young people deserve spaces that actually see them. Not just as “the future,” but as people with ideas, power, emotions, creativity, leadership, and voices right now 🌍✨
Through workshops, field trips, discussions, hands-on activities, collaborative projects, emergency preparedness training, creative expression, and community experiences, fellows will have opportunities to build skills, deepen relationships, explore leadership, and learn more about themselves and the world around them.
The fellowship will run from June 23rd, to August 15th (T/TH | 5:30-8pm | Weekend Field Trips) and fellows will receive a stipend for participating in the program 💫 Additional details around scheduling, attendance expectations, transportation support, meals, and fellowship activities will be shared during onboarding and orientation. Guardians and fellows must attend orientation on, June 13th (In-Person) or June 14th (Virtual). In-person meeting locations will mainly be on the south side.
We are not expecting perfection. We are expecting honesty, effort, curiosity, communication, and respect. This is a space to grow, ask questions, try things out, build confidence, and be part of something bigger than yourself 🌱
Families and guardians can expect ongoing communication, transparency, and opportunities to stay connected in ways that feel supportive and comfortable for your household 🤝
The information collected in this form will not be publicly shared and will only be used by the UMedics team to better support fellows, communicate with families, build safe and accessible programming, and ensure we are creating an experience that serves our youth with care, intention, and respect 💛
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please continue to fill out the form, and send a follow up email to memberdev@umedics.org.
