CREATE Summer Lab

CREATE Summer Lab is a nine-week summer enrichment program for rising 6th–8th graders on Chicago's Far South Side. Hosted at South Side Help Center (10420 S. Halsted), CREATE Summer Lab runs Monday through Thursday from 9AM to 5PM, June 15 through August 14.

This program is built around the idea that young people learn best when they're doing something real. Every week, participants rotate through hands-on experiences in creative arts, podcast and media production, and leadership development. They go on weekly field trips to some of Chicago's best cultural destinations, get outside for outdoor activities, and come back together for group reflection and community building.

CREATE Summer Lab isn't just about keeping kids busy — it's about giving them a space to discover what they're good at, build confidence, and connect with peers who share their drive. Participants are challenged to think critically, work collaboratively, and show up for each other every single day.

Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided daily at no cost. The program is completely free for all participants.
