Apply to be a CPS Honorary Student Board Member

Chicago Public Schools (CPS)

An Honorary Student Board Member is selected annually to represent the interests and perspectives of all Chicago Public Schools (CPS) students by attending the Chicago Board of Education’s ("Board") monthly meetings, which are held on the fourth Thursday of each month, unless otherwise noted. The Honorary Student Board Member is also an active participant in the Student Voice Roundtable initiative, which provides a platform for CPS students from across the District to engage with CPS leadership and Board members on various topics. Interested rising Juniors and Seniors (current 10th and 11th graders) must submit this application before 5:00 p.m. on April 24, 2026.

To be eligible, the student must hold a 3.0 G.P.A. or above and have proven leadership experience. Submission requirements are detailed in the below application.

A $1,000 scholarship will be presented to the Honorary Student Board Member towards their education at a two- or four-year college or university.
