You Be the Chemist! - Chatham Enrichment Center

The Chatham Enrichment Center is developed to promote the educational advancement for youth in Chatham and surrounding neighborhoods. Our program provides well-rounded educational programs including: comprehensive music instruction, literacy enhancement, foreign language and multicultural education, job readiness initiatives, health and science education, fine arts, digital media, and other support services for children from various demographic backgrounds and ability levels. The You Be the Chemist Program helps kindergarten through 8th grade students learn chemistry concepts through hands-on learning and real-world connections. Facilitators will assist students by engaging them in a 5E learning cycle approach to teaching. This cycle allows students to build their own understanding of new concepts from both old ideas and their own experiences. Each part in the cycle provides students the opportunity to engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate. This program exposes students to the fun of science using common household products. Interested interns DO NOT need to be "Science Geniuses" but they must like to work with kids and are interested in learning how things work
