Bridges From School to Work

Bridges is a program that assists young adults in Chicago with job readiness, work maturity skills, job search, interviewing skills, entry level job placement, retention, and follow‐up.

Young Adults referred for Bridges must:

  • Have a current or past IEP or 504 plan or documented disability.
  • Range in age from 17 – 24.
  • Have a valid state-issued ID and social security card/or other documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Demonstrate satisfactory school attendance and behavior.
  • Exhibit satisfactory interpersonal skills.
  • Have parental/guardian approval and support (where applicable).
  • Demonstrate program interest and commitment.
  • Have a genuine desire and motivation to work.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the job search and to the employment probationary period.
  • Cooperate with Bridges staff and adhere to program requirements.
  • Have ability/resources to travel to and from work.
  • Have potential to work independently after short‐term support that fades rapidly.
  • Participate in all job readiness activities.
  • Express interests and goals.
