Bridges From School to Work
Bridges is a program that assists young adults in Chicago with job readiness, work maturity skills, job search, interviewing skills, entry level job placement, retention, and follow‐up.
Young Adults referred for Bridges must:
- Have a current or past IEP or 504 plan or documented disability.
- Range in age from 17 – 24.
- Have a valid state-issued ID and social security card/or other documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Demonstrate satisfactory school attendance and behavior.
- Exhibit satisfactory interpersonal skills.
- Have parental/guardian approval and support (where applicable).
- Demonstrate program interest and commitment.
- Have a genuine desire and motivation to work.
- Demonstrate commitment to the job search and to the employment probationary period.
- Cooperate with Bridges staff and adhere to program requirements.
- Have ability/resources to travel to and from work.
- Have potential to work independently after short‐term support that fades rapidly.
- Participate in all job readiness activities.
- Express interests and goals.
