As part of their ongoing efforts to enhance community safety, the Mayor’s Office of Community Safety is hosting a series of Chicago Gun Safety Awareness workshops across Chicago. Join a session near you and spread the word!

Please see the list of the upcoming workshops below — all engagements are scheduled for 6-7:30 PM:

  • North Lawndale: Thursday, July 17 (Douglass Branch Library, 3353 W. 13th St.)
  • South Lawndale: Thursday, July 31 (Little Village Branch Library, 2311 S. Kedzie Ave.)
  • Roseland/West Pullman: Thursday, August 21 (Pullman Branch Library, 11001 S. Indiana Ave.)
  • South Shore: Thursday, August 28 (South Shore Branch Library, 2505 E. 73rd St.)

CDPH urges residents to stay vigilant if they own firearms. Gun locks are a safe and effective way to prevent suicides and unintentional shootings, especially among children and teens. Gun locks are available at no cost in CDPH vending machines, CDPH Clinics, select CPD district stations, and at select Chicago Public Libraries. Nonprofits and community-based organizations can also request gun locks from Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) by completing this form
