Mike D Chicago - Chicago Cultural Center Dance Studio Residency
Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE)
Amidst the vibrant skyscraper cityscape of Chicago, lies a sanctuaryÑa haven where often unheard voices find resonance. In a world that can sometimes seem cold, these safe spaces offer warmth, understanding, and acceptance. LetÕs explore the heart of Chicago, uncovering the significance of these safe havens. Join Mike D Chicago and his project ensemble at an Open Studio, as it celebrates and introduces audiences to footwork culture, showcasing the essence of what a safe space feels like for creators and dance artists. The informal class includes footwork demos, story-driven work-in-progress excerpts from dance being created at the Chicago Cultural Center, and a Q&A inviting audiences to share their own curiosities and experiences. ASL is provided for this event.
