Boost Your Brain and Memory
Chicago Public Library
Developed by Mather Institute, Boost Your Brain and Memory is a 6-part, evidence-based program series designed to help you learn and practice the most promising strategies for keeping your brain healthy as you age. This program uses a unique, whole-person approach to brain fitness, providing you with healthy practices that can help you remember things better, be more organized, pay closer attention, and reduce your stress-as well as reduce your risk of dementia.
Please plan to attend each session.
This program series will include activities and information such as:
Physical Activity: why and how physical activity is quite important for our bodies and our brains, and that physical activity can come in different forms (i.e., chair exercises or wall exercises). Emotional Health: why and how stress can lead to wear and tear on the body and brain and processes that can reduce levels of stress such as mindfulness work. Intellectual Activity: how intellectual work can stimulate your brain and examples of activities. Nutrition: how it affects your brain function and cognitive reserve. Spiritual Activity: research has shown that some spiritual practices have positive effects on the brain and body. Social Activity: what types of social activities improve brain health.
