More and more people are using the internet for both professional and personal business. Unfortunately, this can leave people open to online scams. Scammers try to trick people into providing personal data and/or bank information, so that they can use it for their benefit. Online scams can vary from online shopping to identity theft. It can also encompass financial fraud. The Office of the Attorney General wants to make sure that the residents of Illinois know what to look for concerning online scams and how to protect themselves. An outreach liaison will present information to help residents: Identity basic online scams Recognize cybersecurity and privacy risks Protect their personal information when online Protect their financial institution information when online shopping Report scams and manage the situation Accessibility Need sign language interpretation or other accessibility assistance for this event?
