Poetry Writing Workshop: Saturation, Surfeit, and Other Synonyms for Overwhelm

Chicago Public Library

How can poets push back against the nonstop stream of information while embracing the contemporary rush of life? We will explore topics of inundation, boundaries, and abundance through brief reading selections, generative writing prompts, and shared discussion. This workshop will adhere to principles of anti-racist writing, as outlined by Felicia Rose Chavez, which lift the voices of writers from marginalized communities, including those identifying as LGBTQIA+, Black, Indigenous, and people of color. Diego Báez is a writer, educator, and abolitionist. He is the author of Yaguarete White . His poems, book reviews, and essays have appeared online and in print. He teaches at the City Colleges of Chicago. Registration Required Accessibility Need sign language interpretation or other accessibility assistance for this event?
