Lifeguard Certification at Welles

Chicago Park District

This is an American Red Cross Blended Learning Waterfront Lifeguard Training Course. This program is held in the winter and spring sessions throughout the city. Pocket mask and an American Red Cross eBook will be provided. Hard copies will be available for Classroom use, and must be returned undamaged. Books that are vandalized or destroyed will be subject to a required payment of $35. If payment is not received, certifications may be withheld. The course consists of classroom lecture, skills practice, a final skills evaluation, and a written exam. Participants are expected to participate and successfully complete all components of the course. Prerequisites: The first day of class you must complete the following: A 550-Yardswim combined with 2 minutes treading without support, using front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both without stopping, a 15-Yard underwater swim, and a deep-water brick retrieval with a 50-Yard swim timed event. If you cannot complete these skills, you will not be allowed to take the class. You will also be required to utilize a valid email for registration and certification.
