Illinois Tech Global Leaders Program -- Community Innovation Projects (2015-2016)

Illinois Institute of Technology

The Illinois Tech Global Leaders Program is a free, two-year academic enrichment program that inspires high-achieving Chicago-area high school students to make a difference in their communities through STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) and to pursue higher education. Community Innovation Projects are year-long leadership projects during which junior Scholars identify a social issue in their community that is relevant to them and work in small teams to develop and implement a solution. These projects require students to conduct in-depth social research, collaborate with community partners to develop a deliverable, and to evaluate their impact. Youth that earn the Social Researcher, Community Changemaker, and Evaluation and Reflection Literacy badges, unlock the Service Learning Badge, which is equivalent to one service learning project.
