Culinary Arts at Fenger

After School Matters

C-CAP's Culinary Arts at Fenger program is a culinary arts program that offers teens industry training, exposure and experiences to teens interested in education and careers food service and hospitality. The goal of the culinary arts apprenticeship is to give teens exposure to the foodservice/hospitality industry in a real world environment by exposing them to various culinary techniques and methods; giving teens job readiness and soft skills training; providing access to post secondary information, scholarship opportunities and ultimately supplying life skills to use through high school and beyond. During each of the program sessions teens will work on basic culinary skill and techniques, returning apprentices will have the opportunity to be assigned a lead chef position which will give them the chance to show leadership skills and work on advance culinary techniques. The apprentices will create a cookbook based on their own original recipes; some of these recipes will be showcased in a closing banquet at the end of each program session for invited family and members of the community.
