After School Matters

Bomba is a style of music and dance that consists of drumming, singing, and dancing brought to the island of Puerto Rico where their style of song and dance mixed with that of the natives. Bomba has become a strong form of self expression. In this program apprentices will be introduced to the history of bomba, singing, dancing, as well as basic Bomba rhythms. These rhythms include Yuba and Sica patterns, songs, and dances. Apprentices will learn foot work, and defining piquetes.
