2024 Summer Leadership Academy

Students Demand Action

Do you want to grow your leadership skills? Ready to become a positive change-maker in your local community? Join Students Demand Action for a free week-long leadership development program. Led by students 18+, you will learn first-hand about the gun violence prevention movement and how to grow and develop your organizing skills to become a leader within this movement and your community.

We’re excited to bring the Chicago Summer Leadership Academy back for its fourth year! In the past, we’ve met with community partners like the Institute for Nonviolence Chicago, collaborated on community service learning projects with Chicago Cares, toured the University of Chicago, and engaged in discussions on leadership development and personal growth. After a week of similar experiences you’ll exit this year’s program with a personalized project to reduce gun violence in your community, the know how to take that project from idea to reality, and a network of fellow leaders ready to support you along that journey.

We will begin each day of the program in the morning and conclude by early afternoon with transportation assistance and meals provided at no cost to participants. A finalized schedule of exact times and meeting locations will be provided during the application process. Program facilitators can also sign off on service hours.

See you this summer!
