Brothers4Science (B4S) is a program for middle school urban boys in areas with a lack of STEM education and enrichment. Designed to get boys interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM); keep boys interested in STEM, and equip boys with skills and experiences that enable them to pursue STEM, B4S creates an inquiry-rich learning environment that puts boys at the center. This after school program will encourage 15 – 20 boys to explore several STEM topics and fields through hands-on activities led by male mentors. Boys will meet positive role models and discover new perspectives. Brothers4Science is intended to: • Help boys develop self-esteem about their thoughts, feelings, experiences, and decisions. • Encourage boys to explore STEM fields, topics, and activities in a safe environment • Expose participants to the wide variety of roles played by men in science • Improve boys’ overall school performance by developing goal-setting, decision-making, and communication skills • Combine STEM learning with leadership development and team-building skills
