At Shedd Aquarium, our mission is to connect people to the living world and inspire them to make a difference, and our public relations team is dedicated to supporting this mission. During a special workshop in the Teen Learning Lab, Shedd’s public relations team will share insight on what it’s like to be a part of their fast paced, media-loving environment.

We are recruiting students in grades 9-12 to participate. Students will be asked to fill out a brief anonymous demographic survey, then play Lucidity. Following gameplay, students will be invited to participate in a short focus group composed of 6-10 participants. Participants will then be asked to play Lucidity once again own their own and complete a phone interview lasting no more than 15 minutes. The session may last up to two hours. Students will receive $30 total for their participation.

Southside students will be coming to Ukrainian Village to present their overall project including photographs, writing poems and conducting interviews to give a voice to the voiceless and tell the “Real Stories” of the people in their community. These High school freshmen have been exploring the ideas of stereotypes of people in our Chicago neighborhoods.

Future Leaders in Planning (FLIP) is a leadership development opportunity where students can contribute to a better future for our region. Participants in this new program will learn more about the northeastern region and share their thoughts with other teens from Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties. Participants will also meet and interact with selected regional leaders who make key planning decisions in our communities.
