The inSTEM program uses a Near Peer Mentor structure that has college students supporting high school students that facilitate the summer program for middle school participants. The mentor has completed two years as a high school mentor in the summer inSTEM program. This means that the person was responsible for facilitating, with at least one other high school mentor, in one of the three middle school grade levels: 6th, 7th, or 8th or the new high school level, 9th and 10th grade.
