Earners of the YAP: 2015 Story Week Festival of Writers badge have participated on the Chicago City of Learning Young Authors' Playlist (YAP - www.chicagocityoflearning.org/YAP), submitting original fiction and non-fiction writing that demonstrates authentic voice, descriptive language, and point of view. These writers also have read and responded to literature, using critical thinking skills. The quality of their work enabled them to "unlock" an intensive Writing Workshop offered by Hypertext Studio (www.hypertextstudio.org). In this 8-week workshop, YAP writers received professional instruction and support designed to help them develop their writing, as well as perform their writing to an audience, in preparation for their participation in the 2015 Story Week Festival of Writers (www.colum.edu/storyweek), an international gathering of writers sponsored by Columbia College Chicago. Earners shared their work at Story Week on March 21st at the Harold Washington Branch of the Chicago Public Library. They also published that work in a special edition of Hypertext Magazine (www.hypertextmag.com).
